Water closets are prohibited in our village. Additionally habitants have committed to use less harmful washing powders and liquids for laundry. The goal is to use environmentally friendly and ecological washing powders. According these principles wastewater form the village is quite clean even before any sewage treatment process. Clean water consumption is about 60% smaller than usual average value in urban areas. We have our own wastewater process. So called grey wastewater (from dish/laundry machines and showers) is collected into septic tanks. After going through three septic tanks waste water is piped into Green Rock’s fibre cleaner and finally into small pond where water may be evaporated into air. When there is lots of water (in spring time) it is overflowing into ditch. As a result our wastewater is not anymore waste but actually it is cleaner than output water from sewage treatment plants in urban areas. |
When urine is separated it is piped into large container which is dug into ground. Urine can be used as a fertilizer in a garden or on a green. In many toilet solutions also bio waste from the kitchen
is composted together with toilet waste. All dry-toilet systems need more
care than water closets but time needed for cleaning and emptying is only
about 2-3h/month. |
